PRETTY IN PINK FOUNDATION SERVES RECORD NUMBER OF CHAMPIONS IN 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

[Raleigh, NC] – February 7, 2023-  Pretty In Pink Foundation is continuing its track record of helping more and more breast cancer patients every year in their battle against this deadly disease. The small nonprofit organization is able to help every qualified applicant because they are able to stretch each dollar to financially assist as many breast cancer patients as possible with their life-saving medical treatment.

In 2022, Pretty In Pink Foundation served 408 Champions across North Carolina– 270 uninsured and under-insured breast cancer patients received funds to pay for surgery, chemotherapy administration, and radiation treatment. Nearly 140 more breast cancer patients were served through their Beyond the Ribbon program.

As they continue to see an increase in the need for their services, they focused on getting creative to stretch each dollar. “We discovered that hospitals have charitable giving programs that are often underutilized and unknown to patients,” explained Anna Sims, patient services manager for Pretty In Pink. “Asking our healthcare partners to inform patients and fully apply their charitable programs, and to discount the bills that Pretty In Pink Foundation will be covering has heavily contributed to our ability to continue to serve every qualified applicant that comes to us in a fiscally responsible and sustainable way.”

Pretty In Pink reaches a wide-range of breast cancer patients across the entire state of North Carolina. In 2022, they served Champions in 67 counties, who range in age from 25 to 87 years old. Eighty-nine percent of Champions in 2022 were under-insured, while 11% were uninsured. Pretty In Pink Foundation receives no state or federal funding and relies on their signature fundraising events and support from the community to fulfill their mission.
