Pretty In Pink Foundation, has offices in Raleigh and Wilmington serving North Carolina, announced today that Angelique Carlson has joined the foundation to further the organizational mission.
Angelique joins Pretty In Pink Foundation as the Development & Outreach Coordinator in the greater Wilmington area to implement fundraising and community outreach strategies, also serving as a regional liaison for cancer patients and families to connect with our Beyond the Ribbon™ program services. Carlson brings nonprofit experience, most recently with the American Red Cross, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work to the position. Returning to the Wilmington community with her husband, a 22 year Army and Marine veteran, Angelique looks forward to bringing her passion and desire for everyone to have access to the care they need.
Shelley Lesniewicz, Director of Business Development, said “We believe Angelique brings the experience and passion necessary to continue building strong partnerships and supporting champions in the Wilmington community.”
Pretty In Pink Foundation mission is to provide uninsured and under-insured breast cancer patients in North Carolina with financial assistance for quality, life-saving medical treatment.
In 2004, Dr. Lisa Tolnitch, a breast cancer surgeon in Raleigh, had a patient that was diagnosed with breast cancer but did not return for a follow-up appointment because she had no health insurance. Dr. Tolnitch realized something needed to be done…she founded Pretty In Pink Foundation with the support of local medical professionals. What began with assisting ten women in Wake County has evolved into helping thousands of women and men throughout North Carolina.
